In Scandinavian countries, saunas
are more than an occasional pleasure; they are
an everyday part of a healthy lifestyle. And
for good reason. Perspiration, together with
elevated cardiovascular blood flow, is nature’s
way of cleansing your system. Almost Heaven Saunas
offer you these benefits, and many others, in
the comfort of your home.
What
Exactly Is A Sauna?
A sauna is an insulated room built of softwood, with an electric
heater capable of heating the room to about 180° F. The
sauna is a dry heat, as opposed to the near 100% humidity
of a steam room.
How Do You Take A Sauna?
Most people relax in their heated sauna with a towel wrap
for approximately 5-10 minute, then take a cool shower, returning
to the sauna to repeat the cycle two or three times. These
are general guidelines; beginners should work up to the 10-minute
period, while experienced sauna bathers may stay in the sauna
for longer times.
Why Is There
a Bucket of Water In The Sauna?
A wooden bucket filled with fresh water and a ladle allow
you to control the amount of humidity in your sauna by occasionally
sprinkling water over the rocks in the heater, releasing
a burst of steam into the sauna, known as Löyly. The
Löyly increases perspiration and cleansing of the pores.
Try it; you’ll like it!
What is Unique About Our Saunas?
We carry the finest saunas available. Almost Heaven saunas are milled from solid 1 1/2” clear,
kiln dried, Western Red Cedar heartwood. In addition to its
natural long lasting beauty, Western Red Cedar is a soft
wood that “breathes,” absorbing humidity (not
heat) for a drier atmosphere and more comfortable surface
to lean against.
What Type Of
Heater is Used?
The best. Our saunas feature heaters and components from
one of the leading sauna heater manufacturers in the world,
Saunatec® of Finland. Saunatec heaters have triple wall
construction that lowers the outer surface temperature while
delivering a penetrating heat that soothes and relaxes.
Where can I install my
sauna?
Almost Heaven saunas are available for indoor or outdoor
use; all you need is a flat washable surface and electrical
power. Popular locations include exercise or recreation rooms,
shower area, basement, garage, patio or pool deck.
Do I need special electrical
requirements?
Almost Heaven saunas require 220/240v power connected to
a 30 or 40 amp breaker in the electrical panel, similar to
a conventional clothes drier.
Is a sauna expensive
to operate?
No. For example, if your electrical rates are 5 cents per
kilowatt-hour, it will only cost 30 cents to operate a 6
kw heater per hour.
